BIG BEAR LAKE, CALIFORNIA — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is preparing to bring back Wild Lights, an after-dark holiday experience running from November 13, 2026, through January 3, 2027, according to San Bernardino County’s announcement.
A free opening celebration
Organizers have scheduled a grand-opening community event on November 19 with free admission. That free-admission announcement applies to the November 19 celebration; it does not mean the entire multiweek event is free. The county directs visitors to the zoo and Visit Big Bear websites for exact hours, tickets and any restrictions.
What visitors can expect
The experience uses nearly two million LED and solar-powered lights, with wildlife-inspired light sculptures and illuminated pathways. The previous season included a tall lit pine tree, an oversized teddy bear, a walk-through ornament and other displays. Specific elements from last year’s event should not be assumed to return unchanged unless organizers confirm them.
The zoo’s wildlife mission
Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a rehabilitation-focused facility that cares for injured, orphaned and otherwise nonreleasable animals. Event visitors can learn more about local wildlife while enjoying an evening holiday activity. Follow posted rules, avoid disturbing animals and plan for cold mountain weather and changing road conditions.
